MILLENNIUM HAIKU
and
Haiku for my sons
NEWS
Journey with world poet, Brandon Broll, through the art of haiku in this elegant collection of 225 short poems, each one a vivid snapshot of life, love, struggle, and the wonders of the everyday. This book features millennium haiku written in 1999-2000, and haiku composed as Broll became a father.
Millennium haiku transport you to New Year’s Eve by the Thames, a hotel lobby in South Africa, a snowy Christmas Eve in Wales, the stained glass of St Alban’s Abbey. Experience moments of fleeting beauty: the flame of a flirtatious glance, a lover’s embrace, the unexpected humour of a cappuccino.
The second half of the book delves into the transformative, intimate experiences of fatherhood. With tenderness and wit, Broll explores the love and fears tied to parenthood: cutting of the umbilical cord, the quiet joy of a midnight feed, the gurgle of a child learning to speak, the bond of brothers.
Life’s smallest, yet most significant moments are distilled in these haiku, offering a fresh perspective on the magic that surrounds us.
